Heat Pump Implementation Scenarios until 2030 in Europe

An analysis of the technology's potential in the building sector of Austria, Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

In this study three scenarios are calculated, which all comprise the same very ambitious energy efficiency measures on the demand side, but different implementation shares for heat pumps on the supply side. In the scenario with the highest heat pump implementation shares (“HP++”) the overall CO2-eq emissions for heating, cooling, hot water and auxiliary energy in buildings can be reduced by 47% from 2012 until 2030.
